| | Open Top Containers | |
| | The article Open Top Containers by Rafal Szejwallo (Principal Design Engineer at TKMH) was published February 2008 in "Bulk Handling Today" and in "bulk solids handling" Vol. 27, 2007, No. 8.
Conclusion of the article:
Using containers for storing, transporting and loading of ships has provided great flexibility. As the main line of Bulk Connection business is still loading sized coal, there is no restriction on the type and the amount of product that can be loaded into a ship. The system allows for the sending of empty containers to the mine/ factory, transport, storage and offload straight into the ship without any additional transfers. In this case there is no need for wagon tipplers, dumpers, stockpiles etc. The system can also be used as a part of the internal transport, where product is still stored on the stockpiles, loaded into containers with a simple loader and transported to the quay side using existing transport facilities.
